An ethics group that specializes in technology has lodged a complaint against OpenAI, the de-veloper of ChatGPT, with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The group, known as the Centre for AI and Digital Policy’s Complaint (CAIDP), has urged the FTC to block OpenAI from releasing more chatbot versions that utilize AI and machine learning tools like GPT-4, the lat-est AI-based release by OpenAI that generates human-like text. CAIDP contends that GPT-4 is highly invasive, biased, deceptive, and risky to public privacy.

OpenAI acknowledged this issue in November last year, admitting that the technology can be utilized for spreading disinformation and influencing computer networks by breaching cyberse-curity through unconventional cyber warfare. The California-based company stated that the fault does not lie with the software but rather the person using it. Unethical groups could use it to reverse ideologies and worldviews, thereby hindering future discussion, reflection, and improvement.

The FTC has yet to respond to the complaint, but has stated that the usage of AI technology should be transparent and foster liability. Given that GPT-4 does not comply with these requirements, the FTC may impose a ban to safeguard consumers’ rights, following careful evaluation and analysis from a security standpoint.

After the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, the OpenAI CEO and the people behind the conversational chatbot launch say that they are equally scared of the negative consequences that the newly developed technology can fetch in the future.

Sam Altman, the tech brain leading the company, now owned by Microsoft, spoke a few words about what the world was intending to say about the tech.

Responding to a query expressed by a participant at the release of new AI tech GPT-4, Altman, 37, stressed that he, his team, and all the tech enthusiasts should take the pledge to protect the world in such a way that ChatGPT doesn’t negate the consequences for humanity.

Especially, the leader is worried that the two newly released AI-based technologies, ChatGPT and GPT-4, can play havoc by acting as large-scale sources to spread disinformation or fake news.

What if the human capable of generating a computer code could use the innovation to launch cyber attacks?…..said Altman.

Despite fears, the invention has the full potential to become a highly assisting technology for humanity, developed to date.

Forget all the innovations developed to date, like radio, TV, smartphone, computer, and internet; as we can gain a slew of benefits from the latest AI model GPT-4, as it can become the fastest growing consumer application in history, added Sam Altman.

NOTE- The insights were provided by the OpenAI CEO, after Elon Musk, the Tesla chief, denounced the move of Microsoft to disband the team that was over-viewing the regulatory ethics of AI. In one of his tweets posted in December last year, Musk proclaimed himself as the sole technology leader to call for AI safety regulation for over a decade.

All these days, the media was busy discussing the new AI-based conversational Chatbot ChatGPT. In the coming days, the discussions will shift a bit, towards a similar product named GPT-4, a Large Language Model (LLM) machine learning tool to generate videos, just with the prompt from the text.

GPT-4 will be having the potential to answer some of the modalities existing in ChatGPT, such as slower responses to user queries and accurate video processing abilities.

Revealing the same, Microsoft CTO Andreas Braun confirmed that the video generation process will take place, by the end of this week, starting Wednesday, i.e., March 15, 2023.

OpenAI has already started working on a new mobile app that will be using the capabilities of GPT-4, a step ahead of the existing web-based language model of ChatGPT.

NOTE 1- After the integration of an AI-powered conversational model in the Bing search engine, the windows OS developer has witnessed a 100m sharp surge in its database of active users to the browser and that’s quite a great accomplishment for the tech giant, as it has achieved the benchmark in just one month.

NOTE 2- As customary, the upcoming GPT-4 will have its share of controversies as it can be used to accentuate the process of creating deep fake videos, a serious threat to society, especially the influential folk.

NOTE 3- Practically speaking, it is not the technology that needs to be put to a fault. It’s the human mind, that needs to be judged for all the bad or the ugly that takes place after the use of AI technology.

GPT 4,
